Technical Reference The Demographic Risk Map (DRM) is a web application based on the XHTML 1.0 Standard and does not need any plugin to be viewed. It was tested successfully with IE6, IE7, Opera 9.2, Firefox 2 and Safari. Nevertheless the maps (esp. the European ones) consist of lots of images what makes it at least advisable to use broadband internet of 1000 kbit/s or more. Firefox 2 sometimes encounters troubles in rendering the maps correctly and might show black map pieces sometimes. This is a hint that the rendering engine of Firefox has not enough free processing power left on your system. In this case we recommend to shut down other applications that need much processing power and then minimize and maximize the browser window in order to force the browser to re-render the page.
